I’ve had money taken from my wallet in the locker room. I’ve tried to go into the building to cancel my membership, filled out the paperwork in the same month i started my membership the previous year like you’re supposed to and found they’re still taking money out of my account the following month. Went back and they told me there was nothing they could do in person at the time and gave me a card to call. Called the number on the card (can’t remember the lady’s name and i don’t have the card in my hand right now) no answer, left a voicemail and yet to receive a reply. Already been charged for one more month than i should’ve been.

There was an incident in late May where children on a field trip were allegedly assaulted by group home members that make trips to the pool every week. One year prior to this, my wife was disturbed by behavior from this group home and did not want to go back to the pool without me present. In my opinion the school chaperones, the group home attendants, and any lifeguard on duty completely failed to protect these children that were followed and assaulted in the pool. I discussed this matter with a manager at Vandalia Recreation Center. They confirmed an incident did happen, and when I asked: "Because the group home has obviously displayed a failure to manage their patients, are they now not allowed back until they fix their procedural issues?" Her answer was that there was an investigation in progress. I am NOT satisfied with that answer, and do not feel that Vandalia Recreation Center has been decisive enough on this matter. I also do not believe VRC has communicated this issue to anybody with memberships. For that reason, my family and I are NOT coming back and will not be renewing our membership. I recently joined. My daughter has been going for up. My grandson attends camp there. He absolutely loves it. It’s a very clean facility. Employees are super friendly and helpful. I can get busy at times. Great assortment of equipment. They have a pool for lap swimming, a splash pad for the smaller kids. A water slide with a height requirement. They have like a very small lazy river. No tubes, just a walking area there. They have a hot tub in the center of the lazy river. The hot tub is the same temperature as the pool. They said it was 80 or 85 degrees. Although not hot, the jets are nice. Locker rooms are clean. Bring your own lock and remove it daily. Large gym. You can pick up schedules of all the activities. They have a really nice outdoor track that is 1.5 miles. They also have an indoor track. Paul gave me a tour and was great! Money well spent.
